Screening of skin epithelioma

Basal cell carcinoma

These lesions are frequent and are generally observed on elderly patients, but sometimes can appear earlier in life.

In 80% of cases, they are located on the face: internal angle of the eye, nasogenian sulcus, forehead, temples. They very rarely produce metastases.

Pre-cancerous lesions exist such as Bowen’s disease .

Many different aspects habe been described :

plane forms, with an ulcerated centre, covered with small bleeding scabs and an infiltrated pearled border and

ulcerative forms,

nodular forms ,

budding forms,

superficial forms and and

sclerosing forms.

Local evolution, if the lesion is neglected, can lead to monstrous lesions.

Squamous cell epithelioma

They are also seen on elderly patients but have a very rapid evolution, a profound and local invasion and give metastases by lymphatic and blood circulatory systems. They require intensive treatment.

They often develop from pre-cancerous lesions: senile keratosis, radio-dermitis, scars and can be observed on all parts of the body.

Their clinical aspect is a globulous, irregular, ulcerative and vegetant lesion. The borders generally have small whitish yellowish comedo-like plugs of keratin.
